PERCEPTIONS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, THE IMPACT OF GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC POLICY, AND PERCEPTIONS OF JOB OPPORTUNITIES ON THE WORK MOTIVATION OF GENERATION Z IN INDONESIA

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI), the influence of government economic policy, and perceptions of job opportunities in relation to the work motivation of Generation Z in Indonesia. The study employs a literature review method, examining various scientific articles from both national and international publications published from 2021 to the present. The literature was selected based on its relevance to the themes of AI in the workplace, economic and employment policy, job opportunities for young people, and Generation Z's work motivation. The findings show that a positive perception of AI can enhance work motivation, given that AI is regarded as capable of improving work efficiency, productivity, the learning process, and individual competency development. However, AI may also give rise to concern when it is perceived as a threat to job continuity. Government economic policies—such as competency-improvement programs, wage policies, and the expansion of access to employment opportunities—also play a role in shaping Generation Z's optimistic attitude toward labor market conditions. In addition, a positive perception of job opportunities can increase work motivation, as individuals feel they have clearer and more defined career prospects. The research gap identified in this study indicates that research integrating perceptions of AI, the impact of government economic policy, and perceptions of job opportunities to explain Generation Z's work motivation in Indonesia remains relatively limited
